REVITALIZATION OF THE CULTURAL-HISTORICAL LINDEN ALLEY ENSEMBLE OF THE BOTANICAL GARDEN OF THE UNIVERSITY OF LATVIA
REVITALIZATION OF THE CULTURAL-HISTORICAL LINDEN ALLEY ENSEMBLE OF THE BOTANICAL GARDEN OF THE UNIVERSITY OF LATVIA
The Botanical Garden of the University of Latvia (UL) is awaiting patrons who would be interested in preserving the natural, cultural and historical heritage, as well as investing in its development. The Botanical Garden will celebrate its centenary in 2022 and it is planned to revitalize the cultural and historical linden alley ensemble. The greatest value of the ensemble is the ~125m long alley, which consists of 65 Dutch lindens. It is estimated that the age of linden trees is now close to 200 years. In order to prolong the viability of trees, which possess biological and cultural significance, and to create a safe environment for visitors and employees of the Botanical Garden, as well as to maintain the functioning of the infrastructure, the restoration of trees is necessary.
