Support for iGEM Latvia-Riga team
Since 2022, the Latvian team has participated in iGEM, the world’s largest synthetic biology competition. In this competition, students’ skills and knowledge are tested as they develop innovative biotechnological solutions to significant problems. Each year, the team comprises highly motivated students from leading Latvian universities: University of Latvia, Riga Technical University and Riga Stradiņš University. With each passing year, the team’s results improve, and interest in the field and competition in Latvia grows. As part of the project team members develop a wide range of skills including lab work organization, fundraising, pitching and even marketing and visual design. The team includes students from various fields, including STEM disciplines, healthcare and even social sciences and humanities, reflecting the project’s broad scope. Public education and engagement in project development are crucial aspects of the initiative. To continue participating in this competition, and to foster the development of STEM fields, especially synthetic biology, in Latvia, we ask for Your support.
